Moonlight Basin is surrounded by the best of what Montana has to offer—from nature hikes in our backyard, braving the whitewater of the scenic Gallatin River, or watching Old Faithful and wildlife in Yellowstone National Park. Only 50 miles away, the Park offers countless geologic wonders and wildlife as varied as bison, grizzly bears, wolves, and elk. Moonlight Basin itself has over 16 miles of beautiful hiking and biking trails to explore, as well as a variety of public and private summer events. There is always something fun to do or explore!
The Moonlight Community Foundation founded Camp Moonlight in 2013 under a simple premise that is central to its mission statement: Get Going—Keep Growing.
In its first year, the camp introduced a group of kids aged 3-15 to three days of fun and engaging, hands-on learning experiences including hiking, canoeing & water safety, art & creative writing, wildlife & plant identification, mountain survival skills and much, much more.
In its second year, Camp Moonlight continues the tradition on which it was originally founded. The focus of the outdoor recreation-based program provides children the opportunity to plug back into nature through a variety of activities, while also building life-long skills and an appreciation for the great outdoors and our environment.
