Moonlight Basin Freeride Team

Moonlight Basin Team

FreeRiding is the fastest growing segment of snowsports. The incredible growth of “new school” Rail Jamskiing and boarding in terrain parks and big mountain coupled with the advancements in gear technology have given rise to a whole new way of defining the sport. Freeriding takes the foundation skills of several disciplines, such as Terrain park tricks, Big mountain charging, and yes even racing to approach every feature of a mountain with a fresh, creative perspective. All in the spirit of progression and most importantly, Fun.

The Moonlight Freeride Team aims to create a safe, fun environment where riders can learn the skills needed to approach all the terrain of a mountain environment with confidence and creativity. With specific focus on terrain park, and big mountain skills development, the Moonlight Freeride Team truly defines where the next generation of snowsports is headed.

As well as the skills mentioned above the program seeks to provide athletes with opportunities for personal growth within a team environment. Coaches will seek to develop their athletes into well rounded individuals developing skills that will assist them not only within the program but also in to the future. Athletes will be asked to define season goals in a number of areas, then work with their coaches to develop a pathway to realize them.

Our one and two day a week competitive team focuses on advanced skills with an eye towards competing in several events across Montana and or the greater northwest throughout the season. Either in Terrain Park or Big Mountain these athletes have a solid foundation of Freeride and freestyle skills and are committed to advancing not only their skills, and those of their teammates but of the sport as a whole.

The one and two day development program is geared to the aspiring Freerider who seeks to experience the whole mountain with confidence and creativity. These riders have a solid ski/riding skills foundation and are already confident on advanced terrain. The development riders will train with coaches in a safe environment on taking their skills to the “next level” whether in the Terrain Park or on the steeps. Emphasis is on diverse skill development and gaining competence and confidence riding the incredible terrain Moonlight Basin has to offer.

Moonlight Basin’s terrain truly defines the term “FreeRiding”. Now it’s time to take it to the next level and unleash the potential that lies within. Our coaches are well versed in the world of Freeriding; they live and breathe the sport. Our goals is to share this passion.
