Share the Ride, Get More Goods
Even if you can’t make it to Moonlight Basin via our free Skyline bus, there’s still an admirable way to help us combat traffic and pollution on our state’s scenic roadways. Arrive at Moonlight Basin with four or more people in your vehicle, and we’ll reward your commitment to keeping emissions low and conserving natural resources – twice over. First, everyone who carpools with four or more friends earns a chance to enter our drawing. There will be three drawings throughout the season - new deck or skis, ski or board bindings; and helmet and a pair of goggles. In addition, all carpoolers receive a voucher for a free fountain drink with meal purchase at either the Headwaters Grille or the Border Café – good every day of the season until April 12, 2009.
To participate, load up the car (4 or more) and pick up vouchers at the new Welcome Entryway. Redeem the top half for your free fountain drink, and fill out the bottom half with your name and email address to enter in our drawing for new gear. The form may be dropped off at the Headwaters Grill or the Border Café. Carpool all season for three chances of winning a brand new skiing or boarding setup. We’ll be drawing:
1. December 19th- January 31: Snowboard or skis
2. February 1st- March 14th: Bindings
3. March 15th- April 12th: Helmet with Goggles
Moonlight Basin’s unique appeal relies on the beauty, tranquility and uniqueness of our alpine environment. Thank you for carpooling to help us preserve our clean skies, fluffy snow, and open roads.

Welcome Entryway Greets Mountain Guests
At Moonlight Basin’s new welcome entryway, a helpful mountain concierge answers guest’s questions, directs traffic, and updates guests on the mountain’s events and activities. The gate itself greets mountain guests with hand-forged chandeliers from Fire Mountain Forge in Livingston, MT. The gate also features Kalispell Ledger rock from a quarry in Montana, and furnishings and finishes selected by Moonlight Interiors, Moonlight’s own in-house design team.

Ski Bridge Soars Into the Treetops
Après ski, Alpine Meadows guests can simply glide home from Moonlight Basin via the longest ski bridge in the United States. Built from 250 tons of weathering steel, the 795 foot bridge is 15 to 50 feet above the ground. “The bridge’s height will give riders and skiers the sensation that they are soaring through the treetops of mature lodge pole pines,” said John Knapton, Director of Mountain Operations.

New Terrain Beckons All Winter Enthusiasts
While Moonlight Basin’s abundant, dry Rocky Mountain snow makes for excellent skiing and snowboarding, there’s more than one way to enjoy winter’s guaranteed white stuff. This year, Moonlight Basin introduces the Blazing Saddles Sledding Hill, located near the Madison Village Base Area. Here, sleds will be available for rent, so anyone with a warm coat and a pair of snow boots can make the most of our snow. “It’s a great way to end the ski day or keep kids too young to ski entertained,” said Janette May, a Moonlight Basin employee. “Honestly, though, I think the parents and grandparents have just as much fun as the kids.”
For those looking for a peaceful alternative to skiing, a new snowshoeing trail begins near the Moonlight Lodge and winds through three quiet miles of wintry natural beauty. Moonlight Basin also boasts a lakeside snowshoeing trail, which begins at the Madison base area and loops around the enchanting Ulreys Lake. Conveniently, snowshoes are available for rent.
Up at the ski resort, advanced terrain now plunges off of the scenic Horseshoe run. Expert skiers and snowboarders are invited to sample Moonlight Basin’s newest trail, called Timberwolf.
